Growing Pains Collection

“Growing Pains” was our Fall 2018 collection, one of our most focused releases. This is a much smaller collection of products, and I was experimenting with a ton of new things we hadn’t done before yet. The Growing Pains Collection included our first cut and sew outerwear product, some of our best t-shirt designs, and one of our first real collaborations with another group of local creatives. This collection was a true culmination of what I had learned up until this point, and I experienced a ton of “growing pains” during the design process of this collection.

The Growing Pains Collection was released online in October 2018.

Concepts

Cut and Sew

For this Fall collection, I wanted to design a cozy quarter button-up sweater silhouette. I tested out a few different fabrics, and decided on a really soft, thick cotton fleece. I designed a colorblock for these sweaters, and decided on two different colorways to produce.

In addition to the sweaters, I wanted to explore another striped t-shirt. I had tested the waters of cut and sew with a stripe t-shirt just a few months before this, and wanted to explore more patterns I could use.

Growing Pains

I wanted to create a “Growing Pains” graphic to commemorate the name of the collection. The term “growing pains” is referred to a lot with human biology and how we go through certain growing pains as we get older. I designed a graphic that resembles a skeleton, along with some other distortions to the design.

Move Set Records

Move Set Records is a music label and collective that started around the same time as Green Acre. We’ve had a pretty close relationship ever since we started, and we wanted to work together to create a small collection of products. Inspired by vintage vinyl art, we created a few items for the Growing Pains collection.
