Sprout Collection

The Sprout Collection was our Spring 2019 release. After dabbling a little bit with cut and sew in the past couple of releases, I wanted to design and produce a full cut and sew collection. This was the biggest challenge I had ever faced with designing a collection of products, because I was still just getting familiar with this entire process of producing cut and sew items.

The “Sprout Collection” name was inspired by this entire process. The sprout symbolizes where we all start our journey and we wanted to showcase how much Green Acre had grown, while still paying homage to where we started. The products in this collection were very heavily inspired by some of our favorite brands, and we wanted to introduce a ton of new textures, fabrics, and colors that we had never used before.

Conception

The main product I wanted to create in the Sprout Collection was a rugby polo silhouette, inspired by classic Ralph Lauren designs, along with other favorite brands. After more research with fabrics, I really wanted to utilize a very soft french terry for these shirts, and designed a ton of different colorways. I ended up narrowing it down to two colors for final production. Along with the rugby polos, a creative decision I made was to have the entire collection be very similar in styles and colors. I utilized similar fabrics, colors, and designs across the entire collection for a mock neck pocket tee, a hoodie, and corduroy hats.

Lookbook

With the “Sprout Collection” lookbook shoot, I wanted to create an interactive shooting experience with our photographer and models. I wanted to take them around Oakland Chinatown, a place where I basically grew up as a kid and share some of my experiences I had there with its food and landmarks. We began the shoot in Lincoln Park, grabbed some dumplings and made our way over towards Broadway. We ended our shoot in Alameda, and produced some amazing shots for the lookbook.

Full Collection

This full collection was released on our online shop in April 2019, and is one of the biggest learning experiences I’ve had so far with a creative project.
